Reaction to the Fischer!

I find the text about Perception of self by Fischer very helpful for me to understand what people normally in their life. Furthermore, these are quite interesting for me about the 5 natures of perceptions such as experiential, selective, and inaccurate and evaluate, because I didn’t even notice that things and I also do these things unconsciously in my life. Therefore, I am so glad to know about these 5 perceptions from the text. Moreover, I think it is like human mystery that our blain separated much information to necessary and unnecessary things unconsciously (without knowing it) through 5 senses such as sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. In addition, these information are separated by each person’s background such as past experiences, I think it’s really mysterious and cool!:)))

Reaction to the Barna!

The text was quite interesting for me to read, because I’m very interested in culture and ethnics. In the text book, it explains about cultural things such as assumption of similarities, culture shocks, and so on. I have been to some countries like the US, European and Asian countries, at that time, I also had many culture shocks there, and sometimes it made me so frustrated. Now I consider about it again I think these were caused by my stereo types or assumption of similarities for these countries. Furthermore, I was a person who thinks that “people are people”, it means that people are all the same. I didn’t even care about culture and their backgrounds at that time, however, after I communicated with many foreigners from all over the world, I was changed my mind, and noticed that people are all the same, but they all have their own culture and different backgrounds. As Barna states that it is really important to understand and also get along with people in the world each person has his or her own culture and background. Otherwise, we might get some conflicts or misunderstanding when we meet people from different countries. To avoid these situations, we would better to understand the differences between people and people, that make world more peaceful, I think.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" Reaction!!:)))

This book “To Kill a Mockingbird” was written by Harper Lee, and published in 1960. It went to win the Pulitzer Prize (In the US, one of 13 prizes that are given each year for excellent work in literature, music, or journalism.) in 1960 and later made into an Academy Award for the film. The author of the book, Harper Lee is a woman who was born in Alabama in the US in 1926. She always tried to consider her book to be a simple love story. In this book, she focused on the issues of racism that were observed by the author as a child in her hometown in Alabama(south part of America).

(Author: Harper Lee)

The reason why I chose this book was that I am interested in the issues of racism, especially in the US such as African American’s discrimination there, because I learned about it little bit in high school, and wanted to know more details. Moreover, I heard that in autumn term, we are going to learn about ethnics and culture in ARW class, so I thought it is good chance and also opportunity to read this book, and get some knowledge about these.

“To kill a mockingbird” is a story about the issue of racism which was in 1930’s Alabama. There are two main characters such as an elementary school student Scout Finch and her brother Jem Finch in this story. They grow to understand that the world is NOT always fair for people through a black innocent man, Tom’s trial. It was that black man, Tom was caught by his false accusation. So, Scout and Jem’s father, Atticus tried to help Tom to exonerate his wrongfully convicted with feasible evidences which show Tom’s wrongfully convicted. However, black man, Tom determined as guilt in end of the trial, because he is just black (Negro). After the trial, Tom tried to escape from the jail and be killed. Through the trial and also town folks’ behavior, Scout and Jem noticed that the world is not fair for all of people, and they needed to understand it unfortunately at that time, but they keep thinking that we are all same and human being.

After I read this book “To Kill a Mockingbird”, I could learn a lot of things such as the reality of discrimination in the US at that time and so on. First of all, it is so sad that the trust can be destroyed by social standing like color of skin. It should be rejected actually. Moreover, I think we all have to be fair and reject all of discrimination from all over the world. It seems like there is no more problems between white and black people, however it still remains somewhere in the world. We all have to be fair, because we are all same human being. Furthermore, the court and judge have to be always “Equal before the law”. We all should be taken care equally!

What do I want to learn/get from ARW Autumn?

In this semester, I would like to spend much time to read and write essay or something like that, because last semester, time flew like the wind, and could not concentrate on classes actually.
My goal of ARW Autumn is to understand the text more deeply and get used to do it!:))
Of course to write good essat too!!:))
I'm little bit worried about Autumn term, because many students say that this term will be really hard and busy for us bacause of ICU festival and so on! Actually it will be, I think. but I'll try my best!!:)))
I hope this term will be sooo much fun and helpful for me with Mark and BG mates!:)

My SUMMER VACATION!!!:))

My summer vacation in this year was really awesome!!!:))
Begginnig of the summer vacation, I went to Nagano with ICU friends to get driver's license!
I stayed there for 2 weeks, and had sooooo much fun!!! Nagano is sooo beautiful place, it is surronding by beautiful mountains such as called Japanese Alps, and natures! Of course, I could get driver's license!:))
I spent rest of the summer vacation in my hometown, Okinawa for one and half months.
My stay in Okinawa was super duper crazy but also amaziong! becauseI hangout with my friends almost everyday, and went around Okinawa such as ocean, mountain, and tourist spots etc,,,,

From August 3rd to 24th, I joined a camp called "Support Fukushima kids" as an instructor, because around 120 children(from elementary school to high school students) came to Okinawa from Fukushima during summer vacation to escape from radioactivity. It was really memorable time for me! We spent 3 weeks together doing camping, diving, sports, sightseeing, and many things! However, I also could know that the  real painful situation about Fukushima(radioactivity) from children such as they never played outside after 3.11 earthquake, and they need to move to other places to escape from radiocativity,,,,,,:((((
Many children were crying while they explained about that, because they don't wanna move to anywhere from their HOMETOWN actually. At that time, i couldn't say anything for them,,,, it was really unforgettable,,,,;(( This camp was really good opprtunity for me to consider about radioactivety(Genpatsu).

Futhermore, last 4days in Okinawa, Mariko(one of my section mate) and her circle mates came to Okinawa for study tour to learn about war and base problems in Okinawa! I joined with them, and went around Okinawa to see problems which Okinawa is facing right now! It was really good time for me to re-consider about problems in Okinawa.

In this summer, I could learn a lot of things in Okinawa and also Nagano!! and I hope these help me in the future!!:)
